PROJECT BRIEF
Urban Landscape Projects were engaged to create a design masterplan for this inner-city school playground. With a design goal to make the most of available outdoor play areas by establishing diverse, engaging spaces for both learning and play, the finished result is an expansive and vibrant playspace for students and staff to enjoy.

Utilising raised planter boxes to create designated outdoor zones allows the playground to be separated into active and passive play areas. The raised planter boxes alongside the existing trees softens the playspace and embraces the natural feel of a playground in an inner-city school environment.

Featuring seating areas for outdoor learning opportunities, synthetic turf for long lasting wear and tear as well as fun, new play elements, the school playspace is an inviting and cohesive outdoor area for learning and play.

JUDGES COMMENTS
“The result is a vibrant and attractive environment ideal for primary school aged children and included extensive seating and seven new fixed play items. The entire site was resurfaced from a bitumen one to a variety of new surfaces according to the rezoned playground uses. Shade sail was also installed to add much needed sun protection in certain spaces. The judges were extremely impressed with the diligence, attention to detail and the finishes of the work to produce an outstanding result.”
