PROJECT BRIEF

A joint submission between LD Total and City of Canning & Water Corporation, Lake Street Urban Street is an innovative Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), transforming a drain into a new urban linear park designed for local residents, visitors and wildlife.

Designed and construction by LD Total, Lake Street Urban Stream is part of the City of Canning’s revegetation program. It mimics a natural waterway and remove pollutants from stormwater. The new open public space will function as a key entry way into Canning’s City Centre, as well as serve as a pedestrian link from Lake Street to Cecil Avenue.

Key highlights of the Lake Street Urban Stream design include the retention of luscious greenery in the form of trees and pockets of native reeds, the addition of native trees, shrubs and plants to increase vibrancy and wild life, in addition to a beautiful boardwalk, lookout and exposed concrete path to provide a connection to the local train station and surrounding shops. Street furniture also creates an active and vibrant public space for the community to interact and connect with each other.
